From rugged snow-capped peaks to winding river canyons, Colorado is blessed with a wealth of spectacular public lands that make our state such a great place to live and visit, and which form the backbone of our economy.

These treasured lands and sparkling rivers are where we hike and hunt and fish, where wildlife finds refuge, and the source of our pure drinking water.

They are what makes Colorado so special.

The continued vitality of this natural Colorado heritage is not ensured, however. The vast majority of our public lands are open to oil and gas drilling, mining, commercial logging, and the roar and dust of off-road vehicles. Less than 5% of Colorado’s canyon country has been protected as designated wilderness to ensure it stays as forever wild as it is today.

We still need to protect these sagebrush meadows, pinyon-juniper slopes, and inviting redrock rivers that connect to higher country, enabling wildlife to migrate and people to enjoy the quiet backcountry.

We have a unique opportunity to safeguard Colorado’s incredible wild landscapes. Please ask Colorado’s congressional delegation to come together to pass additional wilderness legislation to ensure that Colorado stays as wild and wonderful as it is today.
